Sunday Conversation: 2 Peter 3:11-18 Print E-mail

We will finish 2 Peter this week by looking at 2 Pt 3:11-18. I'm going to call this conversation, "Getting Righteous after the Big Explosion." :) After reaffirming the return of Christ, "Peter" concludes with a direct conversation about ethics and righteous living — in his mind, the way one prepares for the return of Christ.

But what really is holy living? We can use this term "holiness" without really elaborating beyond the abstract. Or we reduce holiness to the avoidance of a few specific "heinous" acts. Christian communities have argued over this topic for centuries and today the church is certainly divided by many ethical issues. I am anticipating a very lively (and challenging) conversation on ethics and we strive to listen to "Peter's" final words.

Move Updates Print E-mail

June 7 - New worship time:  Due to space availability at the Reality Center, we will need to delay the start of our worship gatherings.  The Lead Team is proposing that we move our worship gathering time to 6-7:30pm.  To prepare for this change (and to help you get into a new pattern), we would like to move our gathering time to 6pm starting on June 7.  Call it our version of Emmaus Way Daylight Savings Time :)

June 11 - Potentially an emergency packing day:  (Saturday) could potentially be an emergency packing day where we ask you to spend a few hours at the church to help finish the packing. We'll let you know by Wednesday that week if we need help on the 11th.

July 12 - Proposed move date:  We are now trying to get organized to move.  Several transition work groups are being formed.  If you would like to jump in and help, please do so.  We will have teams working on children's transition, worship/aesthetic planning and transition, the physical move, and overall coordination.  Any of the lead team members can fill you in on this (Jenny, Phil, Susan, Chelsea, Travis, David, Tim).

  • shortened worship at Mangum St. location
  • all boxes must be packed and ready to load on the moving truck post worship
  • if you own a dollie/hand truck, please bring it to church on the 12th to help with the move

July 19 - Our first worship gathering at the Reality Center!

The move planning team meets on Thursdays at Mangum St. from 7-8pm starting June 4. If you want to help, you're welcome to attend. Contact Jenny This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

If you have boxes you can donate, or you'd be willing to start collecting boxes in preparation for the move, e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

rite 7 release Print E-mail

The artists of Emmaus Way are proud to announce the release of rite 7, an online CD of our worship music. This project was produced (beautifully and meticulously) by Wade Baynham in his studio (Second Story Studios). The artists on this disk include Wade (vocals, many instruments), Dale Baker, Mark Williams, Mike Garrigan, Michalina Miller, Tim Carliss, Martin Stam, and Jeff Crawford.

The project displays our use of music from a variety of genres, sources, and eras in a liturgical format. The songs will be quite familiar (though the studio versions offer even greater complexity and precision in sound!).

rite 7 is available at http://www.reverbnation.com/emmausway and on itunes (seach "Emmaus Way"). The proceeds of purchases go entirely in our fund for the support of local, working artists. Great music and a great cause!

Welcome!

Emmaus Way is a community of people committed to following Jesus Christ. Jesus' mandate, that we love one another as we love ourselves, encourages us to look beyond our own interests to the needs of others.

Pursuing this requires us to deepen our frienships with one another, to help each other where there is need, and to encourage one another to look outside ourselves.
